DISCOVER AWARD WINNING FOOD AT ‘POP-UP’ SKEGNESS SHOP

Award winning local produce is taking centre stage during this year’s annual Discover Lincolnshire Weekend (Saturday 22 to Sunday 23 March 2014).

AWARD WINNING local produce is taking centre stage during this year’s annual Discover Lincolnshire Weekend (Saturday 22 to Sunday 23 March 2014).

For one weekend only, a Pop-Up Shop with delicious artisan produce will be at Hildreds Shopping Centre, in Skegness. From melt in the mouth chocolates and creamy artisan cheese; to fruity Plum Bread and award winning succulent sausages.

Organised by Select Lincolnshire for Food, the Pop-Up Shop will turn a retail unit at Hildreds Shopping Centre, into a fully functioning shop selling produce from six Select Lincolnshire for Food members.

Business development manager, Gillian Richardson, said: “This is the perfect opportunity for people to come along to our Pop-Up Shop and try some delicious Lincolnshire food and drink.

“Joining us in the shop is Mountain's Boston Sausage, winner of this year’s People’s Choice award. As well as Spire Chocolates, Sweet Heat Chilli, Cote Hill Cheese, Moden Plumbread and Ownsworth Rapeseed Oil.

“I’d like to say thank you to Hildreds Shopping Centre for working with us. I hope that our Pop-Up Shop encourages people to discover the award winning food and drink that’s available on their doorstep in Lincolnshire”.

Steve Andrews, deputy centre manager at Hildreds Shopping Centre, said: “We are very excited about Discover Lincolnshire weekend.

“Hildreds Centre attracts around 16,000 shoppers every weekend, which will help Select Lincolnshire for Food members introduce their produce to a new coastal shoppers.  


“It will be a great showcase of what is truly great about Lincolnshire’s fresh food and produce. We hope there will be several similar weekends over the year introducing artisan and traditional producers to our shoppers.”

Councillor Colin Davie, Executive Member for Economic Development at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “We're passionate about the county's food, and want everyone to know it's Britain's best. So if you're yet to discover the delights of Lincolnshire produce, this is your chance to find out what all the fuss is about. At our pop-up shop you'll be able to sample some of the county's very finest food and drink, including Boston Sausage, Spire Chocolates and Sweet Heat Chilli. This is one tasty treat food lovers will not want to miss”.
